June 2024
Over The Bougainvillea
It turned out to be a glorious afternoon on the day of Makati Garden Club’s Flores de Mayo Celebration on Saturday, May 25, at 3PM. A light rainfall cooled the afternoon and blessed the plants with a sprinkling of dew. Children and adults came dressed in white, were handed flowers and candles as they walked from the cafe towards the back south gardens, singing Ave Maria. Then a scrumptious merienda was served. Thank you President Ninit Paterno for organizing such a lovely afternoon, with tea sandwiches, iced tea drinks, pastries and even gifts of home-made cookies. Thank you Emilie Cruz for the lovely crostinis and refreshments. This added the final touch to the celebration. See photos below of the celebration.
This June, MGC is Inviting two speakers.
On June 13, Thursday, retired Colonel Hector Terrazona will give a talk about the state of our country today, from a military perspective. A week later, on Thursday, June 20, Executive Chef Popit de Leon will do a cooking demonstration. Lunch for both events will be served at P650 each. We encourage you to attend both.
We are currently landscaping and improving our South Gardens, turning it into a lush forest-like garden, filled with all the tropical plants from the country. We hope this will entice members to come and wander through the gardens, perhaps sit on our benches and absorb the charm and tranquility of the area. When you are there, as if by magic (perhaps it’s the dwendes that live in our huge Balete Tree) all the noise and bustle from the busy intersection of EDSA and Ayala is forgotten!
